Guest accomodation in this Mission Beach Queenslander style home is separate to the main house.
All rooms are fully ensuite with queen size beds. Each unit opens onto the verandah that
joins the main house via a walkway. And we also have family accomodation which
is in the Queenslander house - see the Prices page (aka the Great Barrier Reef accommodation page) for more

All rooms are built in that unique Queensland accomodation style, and have queen
size beds and are fully ensuite, with fan, fridge, radio alarm, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries and their own
convenient undercover parking facilities. The shower is a nice big size with shower door - not one of those horrible shower curtains. We can add an extra bed to sleep an extra adult or child - a bit of a squeeze, but OK nevertheless. Please note that the Lodge is NOT suitable for children under the age of ten.

Back to the best Mission Beach accommodation (probably)
OK what else can I tell you about this fine Queensland accomodation.
Well it was built in 1993 by a chap named Dave Christian, who is by all accounts a descendant from the sailors on the Bounty.
Dave was a bit of a celebrity chef in the area, not quite on the Jamie Oliver scale, but a local celeb nevertheless.
Anyway he used to throw lavish dinner parties and they got so popular that people would want to stay the night, presumably because they
were not capable of driving home. So he had the guest units built for this fine Queensland accomodation, and people would come around pretty much just at weekends
and have a great dinner and stay the night. Hence a new Mission Beach accomodation house was born.
The second owners, Michael and Gail, did a wonderful job of networking Licuala Lodge with lots of other
Queensland accomodation places. They also put in a swimming pool, which
I have got to say is one of the best in the area - lots of guests here at Licuala Lodge, Mission Beach accomodation, say it is a great pool.
They also extended the house on the west side, and built a walkway between the main house and the guest units.
Michael also put in a pond, for which I gather he worked tirelessly for many weeks. Unfortunately we had a real big wet season in 2003 and this made a real mess of the pond. Lots of water got underneath the pond liner
and we had all sorts of trouble with the pond. So I decided to get rid of the pond and in it's place is a beautiful garden (see Queensland accommodation page), which took me many hours to get right.
We had quite a lot of turf laid in 2004 (or was it 2003 ??), and I have now got rid of about one-third of it as it got too boggy.
I have added more soil to the area, and improved drainage dramatically, in the hope that I can have several fruit trees there.
Not sure if my idea will work, as it still gets rather wet - but we'll see what transpires.
