Queensland Bed and Breakfast - Licuala Lodge
Here at Licuala Lodge,a great Queensland bed and breakfast, your brekky is served on the upper verandah of the main house, from where you can enjoy a great view of the lush tropical Licuala Lodge garden.
All you have to do is get out of your comfy Sealy queen size bed and walk a few metres from the guest accommodation.
Included in the price is a great Tropical Breakfast. This consists of cereal, fresh fruit salad (and I mean really fresh !!),
toast, jams, honey, cheese, salami, ham, yogurt, muffins, tea, coffee
and real 100% juice (normally orange, and if you are lucky enough pineapple and apple will also be on offer).
Sue prepares the fruit salad in the morning so it really is fresh. What does Sue put in her fruit salads ?
Mango, melon, pawpaw, seedless grapes, strawberries, banana, kiwi fruit, plum, apple, pear, pomelo, grapefruit, lychee, rambutan.
I'll bet some of you have never even tasted some of these exotic tropical fruits, or even never heard of them !!
All the fruit is grown locally, and as such is seasonal (for instance mango season is November through to about May),
so you won't always get all of the above, but pretty much most of it.
I won't pretend that all the fruit is organic, but I can assure you that we do try to get organic stuff whenever we can. And one of our suppliers grows a fruit called a Lemonade - yes a Lemonade. Now I'll bet you thought a lemonade was a soft drink !!
Cereal is a choice of muesli, crunchy nut corn flakes and a couple of other in vogue cereals. For those that need them, we have plenty of gluten-free products (just let us know when you arrive).
The yogurt is home-made. The vanilla yogurt is particularly worth getting out of bed for.
Also we have both Vegemite and Marmite, and Nutella!! (Many thanks to all of you who brought us a jar of Marmite in response to the request for Marmite that we posted on the
website - we were flabbergasted. We are now OK for Marmite for the next few years!!)
Sue bakes her own muffins - banana muffins, cherry muffins, cheese and bacon muffins, carrot and sultana muffins. The list is endless. Some days you will be treated to pancakes with maple syrup - you lucky people !!
So all of this adds up to the yummiest breakfast in Queensland - and you can have as much as you want.
The water we use is filtered through the Nikken Pimag Water System. The water that comes out is absolutely beautiful - I kid you not.
So your coffee tastes like coffee, and your tea tastes like tea. I can't recommend the Nikken system highly enough.
If you want to see it in action just have a peek in our kitchen. Small wonder this is a truly great Queensland bed and breakfast.
... or try a COOKED BREAKFAST - aka The Full Monty
If you fancy spoiling yourself whilst on holiday in Queensland, then go for the Full
Monty - which is two eggs,
bacon, sausage, hash brown, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and (optionally) black pudding - All this for only $10 per head - wow !! - another bargain.
Of course you get all the Tropical breakfast as well, so if you can manage all that then surely you won't want any lunch ?!
The real good news about having a full cooked breakfast is that we have a special machine that removes all the calories - how good is that.
So no need to worry about piling on all that weight. What more could
you possibly ask for ?? A machine that takes away the cholesterol
?? OK- we're working on that one !!
Our breakfast times are 7:30 till 9:00. If you have to get out of bed early during
your stay in North Queensland, then just let us know the night before,
and you can have an early breakfast with pleasure.
So have I whet your appetite for the yummiest breakfast in all Queensland ?? Or have I droned on too much as usual ??
I know I have droned on a bit, but it is all part of a cunning plan.
Back to the best Mission Beach accommodation (probably)
